Community giving

Italian garden at RRU

This is a special place. Special in many ways, to many people.

Our uniquely scenic grounds—an ancient and enduring gathering place for the Xwsepsum and Lekwungen ancestors and families —welcome almost 40,000 visitors free of charge each year. They come for the chance to stroll a rare Edwardian garden in the shadow of Hatley Castle. They come to explore Nature in her many guises: forest and foreshore, groomed garden and wild meadow.

Our magnificent heritage gardens are now more than 100 years old and here is much to be done to protect and enhance the gardens for the future. This place thrives with community support from people like you.

More than a garden restoration, Royal Roads seeks to reimagine its already spectacular gardens to become a rejuvenating force that supports our community through a Vision in Bloom. Your donation in support of the gardens at Royal Roads University will help tackle food insecurity, act on reconciliation, establish community spaces and create biodiversity.

  • Building food production in the Farm at RRU, increasing community food security and creating a living lab for learning, for students and community members alike
  • Bringing new life to a century-old treasure, enriching and rehabilitating our Japanese Gardens, including building a traditional Japanese teahouse as a sanctuary of peace amidst the chaos of everyday life for the community.
  • Protecting our Glass House, one of the last working heritage greenhouses in Canada

If you've enjoyed Royal Roads' beautiful site, if it's taken your breath away, please help us preserve and enhance these remarkable grounds and gardens.

A gift of any size will make a big difference. The generosity of supporters like you helps us to safeguard this special ecological site for generations to come.
