How programs & courses work

At Royal Roads University, you'll be part of a program. You'll take courses with your cohort and learn from experts.

Programs

Choose a program based on your interests and the credential you want to earn.

Many of our interdisciplinary programs build on each other, which means you can apply your credits from one program to continue your studies in another.

Your courses

Every program includes set courses. The program may also include:

  • elective courses
  • program completion options, such as a thesis or applied research project
  • activities like field study, internships or semesters abroad

Your cohort

Your cohort is the group of students you'll be learning with throughout your program.

You'll take your classes together, online or in person. And if your program has residencies, you'll study together for short, intensive periods.

Teamwork is at the core of our programs. You'll learn as much from your classmates as you will from your teachers. Your classmates will also become part of a professional network that can last a lifetime.

Your instructors

Our faculty members are experts in their field. They're practitioners and scholars who teach the courses in your program and guide your learning and research.

You'll get to know them on a first-name basis. Along with your cohort, they'll become part of your lasting network of colleagues, mentors and friends.
