As members of the Royal Roads University community, all students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner.

This fosters an environment where everyone can get the most out of their education.

Your rights and responsibilities

The rights and responsibilities of students are outlined in the Student Rights and Responsibilities policy.

The document also includes guidance around standards of behaviour.

Filing a formal complaint

If you believe someone might have violated the Student Rights and Responsibilities policy, you can file a formal complaint.

Fill out the complaint form and submit it in person at the front desk of the library or by email.

We recommend you file the complaint within five business days of the incident taking place.

About the process

The student conduct complaints process follows the Student Rights and Responsibilities procedures.

The process has several objectives:

  • to hold people accountable for their actions
  • to find positive outcomes that lead to a thriving learning community
  • to educate people about Royal Roads' values

Ombuds services

Royal Roads does not have a formal ombudsperson for students. Our student engagement coordinators can work with you to understand and identify appropriate administrative channels, policies and procedures to help resolve your concern.

If you don’t feel your concern has been addressed after trying to resolve it yourself, our staff can work with you to explore resolution options.

These may include informal processes, such as a facilitated conversation or formal options, such as appeals and complaint procedures.
