President Steenkamp: Students launch campus biodiversity map

I went for a hike on campus with four students who just completed their final project for their BSc in Environmental Science program. And what a project it is!

Jake Edwards, Caleb Gaeke, Hayley Houlden and Shannon Tallon have created a biodiversity map of our campus: One that shows the ecosystems and trails, as well as the mammals, reptiles, plants, birds, mollusks, insects and fungi.

Sponsored by Prof. Ann Dale, this project is such a positive contribution to not only our university community and those who want to better understand the land they interact with, but to conservationists across Canada who will now have this framework.
