Understanding, Identifying, and Reducing Micro-Aggressions in Leadership

Dr. Catherine Etmanski received an RRU Buttedahl Skene Fund award to host a faculty workshop on ‘Understanding, Identifying, and Reducing Micro-Aggressions in Leadership,' with Kingsley Strudwick.

Aligned with RRU’s Human Resources Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy, the School of Leadership Studies hosted a two-hour workshop on “Understanding, Identifying, and Reducing Micro-Aggressions in Leadership.” Thirty Associate Faculty attended this professional development training with Kingsley Strudwick of Ambit Gender Diversity Consulting. Microaggressions are defined as “the constant, small examples of violence that are imperceptible to the people perpetrating them” (K. Strudwick, personal communication, 8 Dec 2020). This is significant in its support for RRU’s commitments to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and truth and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and supports the work of the President’s Anti-Racism Task Force, and RRUFA’s Anti-Racism Subcommittee.
