Mobilizing knowledge through stakeholder relationship building

Dr. Zidulka received an RRU Internal Grant for Research to study the role of ‘knowledge mobilizers’ in building collaborative relationships for the purpose of evidence integration into policy.

The British Columbia Ministry of Health (MOH) has committed to taking an evidence-based approach to policy design and implementation. Given that evidence is constituted by many forms of knowledge, including that held by researchers, patients, and health care professionals, one strategy for honoring this commitment is to increase relationship building between the MOH and external stakeholders. However, engaging in this relationship building is complex. This research focuses on the role of knowledge mobilizers, those with “the skills and practical abilities to move knowledge into action” (Ward, 2017, p. 477) in building collaborative relationships for the purpose of evidence integration into policy.
