Victoria Association for Community Living

The Victoria Association for Community Living is a vibrant non-profit organization that provides services to people of all ages with developmental disabilities. The Association’s services are based on the belief that every person has the right and the desire to be part of the general community. This includes opportunities to contribute to community life and to be valued for one’s efforts.

In support of the principle of community living, the association offers three categories of services: community, day programs and residential housing. The association’s wide range of community services includes family and personal support in the form of networking, referrals and advocacy; supported independent living; supported employment programs and community awareness and education.

The association’s day programs provide meaningful community inclusion through work skills training, recreation and leisure activities and supported volunteerism. In addition, the association runs family-style residences that provide 24-hour support and caring to help people live as independently as possible.

These many services help people with developmental disabilities by nurturing their ability to choose, promote inclusion in the community and create a sense of belonging. In keeping with our university’s core value of promoting the greater community, Royal Roads takes great pleasure in recognizing the Victoria Association for Community Living for providing nearly 50 years of outstanding and inspiring community service.
