Valeria Cortes is a leadership educator and practitioner, passionate about leadership for social change in multicultural contexts. She has extensive experience facilitating change within the non-profit sector and the community level and has worked with undergraduate and graduate students in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Her research and practice include the use of arts-based methods, particularly transformational theatre, as a tool for developing systems thinking.
Experience
Cortes is the founder of Tlatoa Consulting where she offers leadership and intercultural education as well as training and program/curriculum development for various sectors. Before joining Royal Roads University as an associate faculty member in 2013, Cortes held executive leadership roles in Ontario, managed the leadership development program at the University of Toronto, and was the director of student development at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
