Graffiti found in Royal Roads forest

Royal Roads University has moved swiftly to remove symbols and words of hate that were spray painted on trees in the campus forest.

The graffiti was discovered early Sunday and removed later that day.

Local news media covered the vandalism, with stories in Black Press, Times Colonist, CHEK News, and CBC Victoria.

President Steenkamp released a statement, an excerpt of which reads:

"At Royal Roads we stand against all forms of hate and we denounce racism in all its ugly forms.

"We have zero tolerance for this on our campus or in our community. We are working closely with the Westshore RCMP. The graffiti has been removed.

"Royal Roads University is a strong and vital community precisely because of the diversity of our students, faculty and staff."
