Life happens

I was inspired by the sense of community and connection that often develops among students.

The Life Happens Bursary was established by a Royal Roads University staff member who is also an alumnus, inspired by the sense of community and connection that often develops among students.

There are times during the course of a student’s program when, despite their best efforts, “life happens” and an unforeseen financial challenge, however temporary, can get in the way of their ability to continue in their program.

When “life happens” even a little financial help can go a long way to help a student keep pushing towards the finish line.

  • Mark lost his only pair of glasses and his assignments became a whole lot more difficult.
  • Annie’s relationship ended and she suddenly needed a new damage deposit and moving expenses.
  • Raphael’s car broke down permanently during residency and he needed transportation costs to travel back home.

Not everyone walks the same path. We don’t all start out from the same place or with the same opportunities. And we don’t all face the same challenges. But we can each make a difference. That is the power of one.
