Howard Dorrance dedicated a lifetime of service to education.

As an officer cadet (UNTD), Dorrance spent his summers training at Royal Roads. After he acquired a Bachelor of Arts in history from Sir George Williams University, he obtained a Master of Education in Administration at McGill University, which launched his 24-year career as elementary school principal.

Understanding that unforeseen circumstances arise during study, and that there’s power in helping students in need, this bursary is intended to address critical financial need outside the regular cycle of awards. It provides a maximum of $2,000 for students actively enrolled in the second half of their program.

The bursary was created by staff, faculty, associate faculty and students of Royal Roads University, with the generous financial support of Gloria Dorrance in memory of her husband.
