Environmental Chemistry

Introduces students to the study of the sources, reactions, transport, fate, and effects of chemical species in the physical environment, with special emphasis on the reactions in natural waters, the atmosphere and geosphere. Basic concepts in thermodynamics, redox, solution equilibria and organic chemistry are employed. Field and laboratory practical exercises and examples from applied research projects are used to reinforce the concepts presented. Prerequisites: CHEM101, CHEM102, MATH165.
