Students are exposed to frameworks used to identify, interpret, evaluate and construct arguments that support a particular position or conclusion. Students learn to formulate questions, develop strategies for identifying and gathering evidence (including through primary and secondary research), analyze results, and derive logical conclusions. Through the course, students will develop their capacity to make reasoned decisions regarding what is true, and to identify the limitations and consequences of opinions and positions. The course emphasizes the use of reasoned thought as the basis for judgments and decisions about the variety of claims and actions that surround our daily lives.
