These experiences include an engaged partnership between RRU, a business or community organization and a student, like you.

WIL can occur at the course or program level by incorporating learning objectives and outcomes related to employability, personal agency, knowledge and skill mobility, and life-long learning.

Work Integrated Learning opportunities at RRU

As a co-op student, you will be hired into a paid career opportunity that furthers your classroom learning while you gain job skills and explore different career paths.

Your employer supervisor will provide training and on-the-job supervision and mentorship. You will also work with a course instructor to meet the academic requirements of the internship course.

RRU’s co-op terms require a minimum of 420 paid hours up to full-time work for the duration of the academic course, typically 22-25 weeks.

As an intern, you will be hired into an organization as both a supervised paid employee and a mentored student.

Internships can be conducted on-site, remotely or through a hybrid approach. The length of your internship depends on your program requirements.

You will also work with a course instructor to meet the academic requirements of the internship course. Royal Roads' internships are a minimum of 420 hours over 12-weeks to a maximum of full-time hours for the duration of your academic internship course.

As a field practice student, your host supervisor will mentor you in a meaningful and intensive short-term and hands-on professional experience.

Your goal is to secure a host organization that can provide unique experiences in a project or initiative where you will gain new and targeted skills.

You will also work with a course instructor to meet the academic requirements of the field practice course. Royal Roads' field practice positions are 75-100 hours over the duration of your academic internship course.
