Bio (Angela Whitney)
School of Business
Angela Whitney is an associate faculty member in the School of Business and teaches emotional intelligence in the Master of Business Administration program. She brings over 15 years of experience in Human Resources and leadership in healthcare, manufacturing and public safety organizations. She has a passion for enhancing leadership capability through the development and application of emotional intelligence in leaders and teams.
In addition to teaching at Royal Roads University, Whitney holds a senior leadership position at the Calgary Police Service with accountability for the HR Services Section. As part of this role, Whitney works with individual leaders and teams to increase their individual and collective emotional intelligence. Prior to working for the Calgary Police Service, Whitney worked in a variety of HR and operational leadership roles in health care and manufacturing. These positions include accountability for strategic business partnering, employee and labour relations, collective bargaining, change management, talent engagement and development, disability management, HR administration and strategic planning.
Whitney holds an MBA in Executive Management from Royal Roads University (2018). She has a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation from the Human Resources Institute of Alberta and is a certified emotional intelligence (EQi 2.0/EQ360) administrator and facilitator. Additionally, she is a certified PROSCI change management practitioner, certified in conflict resolution from the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society, and certified from Queen’s University in strategic business partnering and business partner coaching.
