President Steenkamp: Returning to Campus

How are your daily pandemic walks? I’m looking forward to the end of hyper-local excursions, but I am so grateful that we live and work on Vancouver Island. It is beautiful at any time of year, but a walk in the forest or beside the sea is something people from all over Canada come to enjoy on their vacations, and we have the privilege of enjoying it year-round.

When I walk around campus, I am delighted when I encounter the friendly faces of faculty and staff. There are more and more of you to greet each week, and I am so looking forward to welcoming everyone back.

We are planning a phased return to work on campus. In my video this week, I talk more about the benefits of working together in person. I want to express my gratitude again to our Royal Roads community for your flexibility and creativity in meeting the challenges of the pandemic, we are almost at the other end of the bridge we built to get through it. I am more than ready to celebrate with all of you when you can return.
