President Steenkamp: Climate crisis a burning issue

There are almost 400 active wildfires in BC right now – made worse by scorching temperatures and a summer plagued by severe drought across the province.

This has – and continues to be  –  a summer like no other. 

So is this our new normal? And what can we do to both help and to alleviate despair?

In my video message this week, I speak with Cascade Institute Research Director Scott Janzwood, who says we need to overcome our fixation on wildfire triggers, like lightning or irresponsible campers. Instead, he stresses the importance of looking at the underlying reasons for the increased frequency and intensity we’re seeing across the country.
