The Currie Award in Honour of the Royal Canadian Naval College Class of 1947 has been established to provide financial aid to students who have selflessly dedicated their time and energy to volunteerism and community involvement and who demonstrate a reasonable amount of financial need as they pursue their education at Royal Roads University (RRU). The purpose of this award is to aid in reducing the financial barrier to enrolling at RRU by helping those who have helped others.

George N.M. Currie is a graduate of the Royal Canadian Naval College (RCNC) and has established this award in honour of the RCNC Class of 1947.

Eligibility

  • Are entering an academic program in the areas of Humanitarian Studies or Leadership Studies
  • Have demonstrated selfless dedication to volunteerism and community involvement
  • Have reasonable need
  • Preference will be given to students who have overcome exceptional personal challenges (e.g. children of fallen service members, former child in care, etc) and to students who self-identify as belonging to an equity-deserving group.

How to apply

  • This Entrance Award is open to students who will be active in their program after the application deadline date
  • Pending the availability of funding, the competition will run annually from June 1st to August 1st
  • Applications are submitted online through MyAdmin.
  • Address eligibility in one one-page essay with your name in top margin
