Dr. Liton Furukawa is a postdoctoral fellow and research ethics review officer at Royal Roads University with over a decade of experience in interdisciplinary education and global management. Holding a doctorate in Interdisciplinary Studies, her background spans business, education, and international relations. She is widely recognised for her innovative contributions to curriculum design, experiential pedagogy, and applied research.

Dr. Furukawa has taught in over ten countries and is fluent in five languages. She is the creator of several educational models, including the Synergistic Learning Expedition and LuminaEd platform, which combine multisensory learning and cultural inclusion. Her research and teaching intersect ethics, international business, early childhood education, and health promotion, with funding from Mitacs, CIHR, and other national bodies.

She brings deep expertise in inclusive education, stakeholder engagement, and global leadership development. Her active work with Indigenous communities, professional boards, and international institutions enriches her approach to learner-centred teaching and ethical leadership.

Experience

Dr. Furukawa's professional experience combines doctoral and postdoctoral research, dynamic leadership, and extensive educational management. She has led complex, federally and provincially funded research projects as principal investigator and worked with international teams. 

She has managed educational groups and multiple childcare centers, supervised over 200 teachers, and conducted numerous training sessions. 

Her expertise in curriculum design has influenced schools nationally and internationally, while her global collaborations with over 208 institutions enhance her ability to mentor diverse students for leadership in global management contexts.
