Business

Dr. Juana Du is a Professor in the School of Business at Royal Roads University. Drawing on her professional and scholarly experience across Hong Kong, Germany, the United States, Canada, and the Middle East, her work focuses on culture and creativity, global teams, and management practices in complex, multicultural contexts.

Dr. Du has taught extensively at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses in organizational behavior and culture, international business, intercultural theory and practice, research methods, and applied statistics. She has supervised numerous graduate research projects and doctoral dissertations. She served for nine years as Program Head of an international MA program at Royal Roads University, during which she provided academic leadership, curriculum oversight, faculty coordination, and led the program’s comprehensive five-year review. She has also served on the University Academic Council and contributed to curriculum and jurisdiction committees, supporting academic excellence.

In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Du has acted as a research and management consultant to multinational and multicultural organizations, advising senior leaders on expatriate development, global talent management, multicultural and hybrid teams, and digital capability building. Her consulting experience includes work with organizations such as Mars Inc., International Motors LLC, Eaton Corporation, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and CNPC Canada, across Asia, North America, and the Middle East.
 

Experience

Her research expertise spans cultural intelligence, cross-cultural adaptation of global professionals, global virtual and hybrid teams, knowledge management, and organizational digital capability. Most recently, she led a funded research-consulting project on digital capability building, managerial AI literacy, and the future of energy, in collaboration with ADNOC initiatives. Her scholarship bridges theory and practice, with direct relevance to contemporary organizational and leadership challenges.

Dr. Du earned her M.S. degree from New York University and her Ph.D. from Hong Kong Baptist University. She completed postdoctoral research at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and has held visiting scholar and researcher appointments at institutions including Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany), Ohio University (the U.S.), the School of Business and Society at the University of York (UK), and the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington (the U.S.).

She has published more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, including the Journal of World Business, Journal of Comparative International Management, Oxford Bibliographies, the New England Journal of Entrepreneurship, Journal of International Management, Competitiveness Review, and others. She received the Best Paper Award from the Journal of Comparative International Management in 2024. She also serves as a reviewer and sectional editor for multiple academic journals and as the editor of a special issue of a digital journal. She has held key leadership roles in major international conferences, including Caucus Chair for the Academy of Management (2023 and 2026) and Track Chair for the Academy of International Business–Northeast Chapter (2021–2025).
