Session #1: General Anxiety

*As we enter the spring season and celebrate Earth week, RRU Counsellors will highlight aspects of Nature-based therapy during this series.*

This session will provide an introduction to understanding anxiety and its impacts on the body and mind, as well as explore topics such as spiraled thinking and excessive worrying.

Facilitated by RRU Counsellors, these free psychoeducational support group sessions will provide a safe and confidential space to share and connect with others around common experiences of anxiety. The sessions will also provide strategies to help manage stress and anxiety symptoms, and support choices to improve daily habits and academic performance.

In addition to nature-based therapy approaches, we will also explore elements of Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Format for each session:

  • Check-in
  • Short Grounding Exercise
  • Discussion Questions & Sharing Experiences as a group
  • Strategies, Coping skills and Goal Setting
  • Check-out
