Presented by the RRU's Disaster and Emergency Management program, this session will discuss how we can achieve gender and health equity goals as we undertake emergency planning, response and recovery in Canada.
Learn about the Gendered Emergency Management Framework, which includes principles, practices and indicators for developing a gender-informed, equity-oriented and trauma-informed approach to emergency planning and response.
About the speaker
Dr. Nancy Poole is the Director of the Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health, a research and knowledge exchange centre, which collaborates with service providers, policy makers, community-based advocates and other researchers across Canada and internationally, on policy and health service improvement research, and promotion of gender equity.
Nancy is a catalyst for bringing knowledge to practice, in order to advance women’s health and feminist social change. She has a MA in Distributed Learning from RRU, a PhD in Education from the University of South Australia, and an honorary doctorate, awarded by the Justice Institute of BC in recognition of her contributions to women’s health and trauma informed practice.
