Admission decisions

What happens next?

After your application is complete, we'll review it to make a decision. The length of time this might take can vary.

Notice: Due to the high volume of international applications, admission decisions are taking longer than usual. We value each of your applications and appreciate your patience as we work hard to address the current backlog. For updates on your application status, please refer to MyAdmin. We know that choosing a post-secondary path is a big decision and we understand your enthusiasm, however, please refrain from re-sending email messages while we work through your applications. We will respond to you as soon as possible.

Also note that in keeping with the Learning, Teaching & Research Model applicants must show the potential to work in a collaborative, respectful manner with staff, faculty and students. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission, and the university reserves the right to deny any applicant. Abusive or disrespectful correspondence from applicants will not be tolerated.

If you are accepted

You'll receive a letter of offer that invites you to study at Royal Roads.

Your next step is to submit your decision and pay the tuition deposit before the deadline stated in the letter.

Seats are limited. Students are admitted or waitlisted in order of their paid acceptance.

If you are given a conditional acceptance

You might receive a conditional acceptance to your program. This means that to qualify, you'll need to meet some other requirements before the program starts. If you don't meet these conditions in time, you'll most likely have to defer to the next available program intake or your admission may be cancelled.

Confirming your admission

Once we've received your acceptance and tuition deposit, we’ll send you an email confirming your admission status.

If you're an international student, we'll also send you a Letter of Acceptance you can use to support your study permit application.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), which grants study permits, won’t accept a letter of offer. They will only accept your Letter of Acceptance, which shows you have paid your deposit and secured a seat in your program.

If you are placed on a waitlist

If your chosen program intake is full, you can accept a waitlisted spot in that session. Or, you can choose to accept a confirmed spot in a future session instead.

If you're on the waitlist, you’ll get regular updates about your position. When a seat becomes available, you’ll be admitted automatically. You can see your place on the waitlist at any time by logging in to your MyAdmin account.

If your application is unsuccessful

Unfortunately, not all applicants may be accepted to the program they apply for. Meeting the admission requirements set out by the University does not guarantee admission. Royal Roads University reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone, and those decisions are final.

However, in most cases, you're welcome to submit a new application to a future intake. You may also apply to another program.
