Global Leadership's Spring Convocation 2026 

Among Royal Roads University graduates, the Global Leadership program is pleased to celebrate Convocation June 2026! 

Celebrations began June 4th with the Indigenous Graduation Ceremony to celebrate the educational achievements of Indigenous graduates, and seeing Cameron Bell, a Global Leadership graduate participate. This ceremony centers on community, featuring a blanketing ceremony, drummers, guest speakers, Elders, Old Ones, and family members. Both this June 4th and 5th's broader community ceremony were shared in joy, tears, and excitement. Graduates in Global Leadership have much to celebrate.

Their journey is meaningful not only for graduate level intensive learning that takes a lot of courage, fortitude, deep breaths, and sacrifice - also among loved and cherished ones who journey alongside. Many students in Global Leadership are international. Some family members and friends came from afar. Current global leadership students showed up to cheer alongside faculty. The celebration is also special because the learning and capacities are direly needed in an increasingly challenging world. Each student engaged in learning to prepare them to navigate and lead through key global issues. 

Congratulations to Global Leadership graduates Lydia Adesanya, Ernestina Agyapong, Cyntia Bezerra De Oliveira Santos, Christian Caicedo Carbonell, Gabe Fournell, Gayathri Gopan, Rodrigo Guzman De Llano, Connie Haider, Wing Kwan Michelle Ho, Jeannette Lacey, Uche Ibe, Rinju K C, Akira Kawabata, Aramide Lemboye, Rob Roy MacKenzie, Mayank Meena, Cheryl Molina, Peter Nkemeh, Rutendo Nyabadza, Irene Ohene, Azra Rizvi, Flora Shi, Emmanuel Ukah, Marlize, Underhay, and Cameron.

The university presents Eve's Global Leadership Learner Award that has been established to recognize a Master of Arts in Global Leadership student who is nominated by fellow students for making outstanding contributions to the learning journey of fellow classmates during their time at Royal Roads University. For 2026, we are honoured to share the student who was nominated and won is Marlize Underhay. Marlize also won the Founders Award and the Royal Roads Chancellor’s Award.

Graduates also nominated the third Eve’s Leadership Teaching Award to MAGL faculty, Dr. Wanda Krause. This award celebrates a student nominated faculty who has made significant contributions to the learning experiences of Global Leadership students, deepening the learning of global leadership competencies. Eve was a student in the first cohort of the Master of Arts in Leadership and Training program, established at Royal Roads in 1996. This program, and the people involved in all aspects of it, informed and inspired the trajectory of her life.
