We are living through a time of overlapping global crises — from climate change to housing instability — making it more urgent than ever to ask: How can we build stronger, more resilient communities?

In this thought-provoking session, we’ll explore bold ideas and grounded research from those working at the forefront of community development.

On the 10th Year Celebration of the MA in Global Leadership program, Join Marilyn Hamilton, Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University, as she introduces AQtivating Soul Power — a powerful framework for understanding and responding to the Metacrisis in our cities. Why do so many urban spaces feel fragmented, polluted, or in conflict with themselves? And what steps can we take to foster greater connection, resilience, and renewal?

You’ll also hear from two alumni of the MA in Global Leadership program:

Amanda Kelly will share her capstone research on how FIFA can champion human rights reform through the power of sport.
Luis Gutiérrez Aguirre will discuss his action-based research on supporting unhoused youth through community-driven solutions.

Leave with new frameworks, practical strategies, and fresh inspiration for making a meaningful impact in your own community development work — at a time when the world needs it most.
