Nature-Based Solutions: Rewilding

Restoring natural landscapes damaged by human exploitation can be one of the most effective and cheapest ways to combat the climate crisis while also boosting dwindling wildlife populations, a scientific study reveals.

They state if a third of the planet’s most degraded areas were restored, and protection was added to areas still in good condition, that would store carbon equating to half of all human-caused GHG emissions since the industrial revolution. And would prevent 70% of species extinctions.

Imagine if we combined ecosystem regeneration of just 15% of converted lands with finalizing 50% of protected spaces in Canada by 2030 and nature-based solutions in our recovery infrastructure strategies.
