Here's where Royal Roads made headlines this week: 

  • President and Vice-Chancellor Philip Steenkamp was this week’s guest on The World of Higher Education podcast, where he spoke about the state of post-secondary in Canada and what Royal Roads is doing to set itself apart in an increasingly difficult landscape.  
  • Associate Vice President of Integrated Academic Planning and Strategic Initiatives Tamara Leary wrote an article for the Academica “Illuminating Hope” series on bridging the divide between university faculty and administrative staff.   

  • Robin Cox, professor of Environment and Sustainability and director of Resilience by Design Lab, is a cosponsor in a new initiative called CanAdapt, a platform designed to upskill professionals, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate climate resilient practice across Canada. CanAdapt was announced to a national audience and featured in publications across Canada.  

  • Associate Professor of Communication and Culture David Black commented on the BC government announcement on drug decriminalization in the Times Colonist.

  • Master of Business Administration alum Trevor Koot wrote an article for Real Estate Magazine about how AI is changing consumer habits and how realtors can adapt.  

  • Royal Roads celebrated the City of Maple Ridge as its 2025 Internship Employer of the Year, featured in Education News Canada. 

  • A memorandum of understanding between RRU and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLITT) creates a pathway for SLIIT business students to transfer to RRU’s BBA in Information and Sustainability program, featured in Academica.
