Jackie Scales is a recognized leader in implementing inclusive workplace strategies and business planning to foster innovation and diversity.  As Director, Inclusion and Diversity at Teck Resources, Jackie is a change agent, leading initiatives that disrupt bias and drive employee engagement. Under her leadership, Teck launched a global Employee Engagement and Inclusion survey. She was the driving force behind Teck’s first global LGBTQ2+ Pride campaign which raised the profile of the LGBTQ2+ community across the global mining industry.

Jackie has 20 years’ experience in financial services and human resources consulting. Prior to joining Teck, she was a senior manager in Deloitte’s human capital and consulting practice, where she advised leadership teams across industries on talent management, leadership development and inclusive business practice. Jackie has also served as co-chair for the Lieutenant Governor’s Forum on First Nations (Ontario) and co-founded Leaders To Be Proud Of, a national awards program that recognizes gay and gay-positive business leaders who have made significant contributions to addressing LGBT issues or strengthening advocacy.

As a sought-after advisor, Jackie has held multiple board positions with community not-for-profit organizations that focus on Inclusion, including Pride at Work Canada, an organization dedicated to improving the workplace climate for LGBT employees. She is currently the chair of the Royal Roads University Business School Advisory Board and an active member of the Inclusion and Diversity Advisory Board of the Mining Industry Human Resources Council, the Inclusion Advisory Board for the Women’s Executive Network and a board member for Girl in the Wild, an organization which empowers young women through adventure-based learning.

Jackie is the recipient of the 2011 Lynda Bowles Spirit Award, which honours inspirational female professionals and a recipient the Royal Roads University Alumni Excellence award, which honours individuals that have shown dedication and commitment to advancing their filed of expertise. Jackie holds an MBA in Executive Management with a specialization in Leadership from Royal Roads University.
