Open for competition to BSc Environmental Science students who show a dedication towards creating positive change in related education and their community.

Eligibility

The Roger Colwill for the Environment Award has been established to assist a Royal Roads student in the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science program. The student must show a dedication towards creating positive change in Environment and Sustainability education and be actively working in their community to bring about this positive change.

Roger Colwill volunteered tirelessly in Victoria after retiring as Vice President of Royal LePage in 1990. He organized community events and campaigns, helped to found Restorative Justice Oak Bay, the BC Sustainable Energy Association, the Victoria Value Based Business Network, and Green Drinks Victoria. Roger used his knowledge, energy and resources to assist others to effect positive change toward a more sustainable world. He was a deeply committed and exceptional leader which gained him a vast network of people in a wide variety of fields.

Roger aimed to build a world marked by "collaboration, mutual respect and a triple bottom line," he was driven in this pursuit by a deep faith in the essential goodness of people.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in the BSc in Environmental Science program
  • Actively volunteering in environmental sustainability in their community
  • Financial need will be considered

How to Apply

  • this In-Course Award is open to students who are (or will be) active in their program on the deadline date
  • pending the availability of funding, the competition will run annually from June 1st to August 1st (closes 11:59pm PST)
  • applications are submitted online through MyAdmin. A full list of awards in competition will be viewable upon login
  • address eligibility criteria for all awards in that competition in one one-page essay with your name in top margin
