Melinda is a recent graduate of the Royal Roads University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Her Master’s thesis built a database of First Nations place names for the Victoria waterfront. In her scholarship, Melinda explores settlers’ roles and responsibilities in shaping tourism narratives and sense of place. As associate faculty, she uses a social justice perspective to inspire students to consider how their tourism work impacts people and places around the world. Previously, Melinda was teaching assistant for a Master’s-level research methodology course and is currently teaching in the undergraduate program about how tourism is connected to globalization.
