Kyla McLeod is a dedicated student affairs practitioner who loves working and learning in the post-secondary environment. She currently serves as the Director of Student Services at Royal Roads University, which includes oversight of various services areas including Accessibility Services, Career Learning and Development, Counselling and Learning Strategist Services, Financial Aid and Awards, Indigenous Student Services, International Student Services, New Student Orientation, Recreation Services, Student Activities, Student Conduct, and Team Coaching.  

Experience

McLeod has been with Royal Roads for over 15 years. However, she has also worked in the field of student affairs at other public and private institutions in both Canada and the U.S. Like many in the field, her career began in residence life and then continued to shift and change as she took on new interests in the area of student experience. Specific areas of research and learning include student engagement and retention in online learning environments, student mental health, and issues related to equity and diversity. She is particularly interested in understanding how to respectfully work towards reconciliation in the field of student services.

She has enjoyed being involved in volunteer leadership roles within different professional associations and within her workplaces. She has a spouse and two kids, and her personal interests include being with members of her family in outside spaces.
