Dr. Jeff Donaldson is a veteran, researcher and avid backcountry explorer. He serves as the principal researcher at Preparedness Labs Inc., focused on exploring the avenues to improve the adoption of public sector resident-facing preparedness communication by the general public, marginalized groups and the relationships between emergency managers and the communities they serve.

His research is grounded in social capital theory, community resilience, personal responsibility and the role of the state in preparing the population for exogenous shocks. He is a published author, advocate for all voices, open-source publishing, ideological neutrality and evidence-based discourse.

Experience

Jeff is a veteran with a wealth of global exposure to conflict and humanitarian events. As an entrepreneur in the field of emergency management, he publishes extensively about preparedness communications and community resilience on open-source platforms. 

Jeff is the voice of Inside My Canoehead, a social media brand dedicated to free emergency preparedness education. He is a founding member of the International Social Capital Association, a group of researchers across the globe focussed on disaster resilience and human networks. Professionally, he has worked with numerous provincial and municipal emergency management organizations to improve the design and delivery of public sector resident-facing emergency preparedness communications.
