Debbi Stanyer is an accomplished environmental professional with over 30 years of experience in resource management and Indigenous relations across the pulp and paper, renewable energy, mining, and oil and gas sectors. As an associate faculty member in the Master’s of Environment and Management program, she brings a deep understanding of the intersection between environmental stewardship and Indigenous engagement. Debbi’s teaching is grounded in real-world experience, offering students practical insights into reconciliation, regulatory frameworks, and sustainable development. Her work emphasizes respectful collaboration with Indigenous communities and innovative approaches to resource management.

Experience

Debbi has led environmental and regulatory initiatives across Western Canada and the United States, supporting permitting, compliance, and collaborative planning for major resource projects. She has worked closely with First Nations, industry, and government to develop environmental programs and licensing strategies that reflect shared values and priorities. Known for her ability to navigate regulatory frameworks and build trust among diverse stakeholders, Debbi brings a grounded, inclusive approach to environmental management and community relations.
