Courtenay Jacklin is a lawyer and partner at Cascadia Legal LLP, a full-service law firm focused on all matters of Aboriginal law. Born and raised in Treaty 4 territory, she brings a grounded, community-informed approach to advising and representing Indigenous governments, organizations, and individuals on litigation, negotiations, economic development initiatives, and governance matters.
Experience
Courtenay began her career working on provincial wildlife and habitat regulatory policy, providing analysis on licensing, allocation, guide outfitting, trapping, and urban wildlife. During her legal studies, she completed a Concentration in Environmental Law and Sustainability and has since participated in the University of Victoria Environmental Law Centre Associates Program. Courtenay’s Aboriginal law practice includes environmental and regulatory law, land governance, Crown consultation and accommodation, and Aboriginal rights and title. She is also a rostered lawyer for West Coast Environmental Law’s Environmental Dispute Resolution Fund.
