Summary
Dr. Barb van Ingen is vice-president of Student Life and Learning at Concordia University of Edmonton. She is a member of her institution’s senior leadership team, the President’s Executive Council, and leads the student services team. van Ingen’s research experience includes case studies, quantitative studies and mixed methodology on mental health, cyberbullying and wellness. She is co-chair of Concordia University of Edmonton’s Interdisciplinary Research Cluster on Wellness. van Ingen is a registered psychologist and has co-authored in the field of wellness and presented nationally and internationally.
Experience
van Ingen’s professional experience includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervision of provisional psychologists and master’s level counselling practicum students, and almost 20 years’ experience in post-secondary administration. During her career, van Ingen served as campus psychologist, director of Student Life and Learning, dean of students, and vice-president, Student Life and Learning. Prior to her career in post-secondary, van Ingen was an elementary school teacher. She is a member of a non-profit organization board of directors.
Credentials
van Ingen holds a PhD from Northcentral University (2014), a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle (2003), a Bachelor of Education after-degree from Concordia University College of Alberta (1998) and a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia College (1995). She is a registered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (2004).
