Updated March 3, 2020

The university continues to monitor the outbreak of COVID-19 and is closely following advice from public health officials. We will keep this page updated as the situation unfolds.

According to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), the risk to people in British Columbia and Canada is considered low. The government of BC asks that all travellers returning from Iran and China self-isolate for 14 days upon their arrival in Canada, and all other travellers who are returning to or visiting BC from outside Canada to monitor themselves and their families closely for symptoms, and if any arise, to limit their contact with others and call HealthLinkBC’s 811.

If you have questions or concerns about COVID-19, visit HealthLinkBC. If you have a health concern, need non-emergency assistance getting medical help, or need medical translation services, you can call HealthLinkBC’s 811 information line free of charge. You can also call the Government of Canada COVID-19 information line at 1-833-784-4397.

Staying healthy

BCCDC recommends proper hand washing as the best precaution against the spread of infection.

PHAC recommends avoiding non-essential travel to China, Northern Italy and Iran. The Government of Canada updates travel health notices regularly.
