Here's where Royal Roads made headlines this week:

  • Associate Professor of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Moira McDonald, and Assistant Professor Ann-Kathrin McLean, published an article in The Conversation about Canadians limiting travel to the US due to political tensions and border concerns. Their opinion piece was also featured in Canadian Press publications.

  • McDonald was also interviewed by CTV on the topic of domestic tourism, and CBC On the Island about Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker program (Link not available).
  • David Black, associate professor of Communication and Culture, was interviewed on CKNW Mornings with Simi about the BCGEU escalating job action, and on CFAX ICYMI with Al Ferraby about a drop in the BC Premier’s approval ratings, alongside the national political context.

  • Jenna Thornber, executive director of the Royal Roads University Student Association was interviewed by CBC All Points West about the student experience at the RRU Langford, John Horgan campus.

  • Recordings of the 2025 TEDxRRU talks are now available on Youtube, including: Solara Goldwynn on the power of edible landscapes, David Graham on finding insights in nature, April Hicke on tapping into potential by removing labels, Rebecca Pearce on geothermal energy as the future of renewable power, Alina Pete on using comics and storytelling to make learning fun, Beerinder Singh on preparing emotionally for life’s big transitions, and Sandra Walker on how personality traits impact decision-making.
