Royal Roads University signs MOU with O.P. Jindal Global University
Royal Roads University signed a new partnership agreement with O.P. Jindal Global University at the QS India Summit, an annual higher education conference. JGU is one of India’s leading institutions and recognized as an “Institution of Eminence” by the country’s Ministry of Education. The agreement marks the beginning of a shared commitment to foster global connections, broaden learning opportunities and explore new avenues for collaboration.
The partnership opens the door for the two universities to facilitate student and faculty exchanges, joint learning experiences and opportunities to share research and academic resources. While details of specific activities will be developed collaboratively over time, both institutions share a vision of creating meaningful global experiences for their communities.
“As global challenges become more complex, universities around the world should come together to share knowledge and create opportunities for learners and researchers,” said Philip Steenkamp, president and vice-chancellor, Royal Roads University. “This partnership with Jindal Global University reflects our shared commitment to impactful, international education and to building bridges that benefit our communities.”
In a media release, C. Raj Kumar, founding vice-chancellor of JGU, noted that global academic partnerships have become essential for universities seeking to generate wider intellectual and societal impact.

The MoUs signed at the QS India Summit reflect JGU's sustained commitment to building international academic partnerships that enable impactful research collaboration, global learning opportunities, and long-term institutional engagement.”
Located in Haryana, India, JGU is known for its interdisciplinary approach and strong international outlook, which align closely with Royal Roads’ values and strengths. Through the new agreement, both universities aim to deepen connections between Canada and India, supporting innovative teaching, applied research and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The agreement will be in effect for five years, and the institutions will explore projects that bring students, faculty and staff together in ways that support shared learning and global engagement.
