Royal Roads signs San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment

Royal Roads University has signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). As a signatory to DORA, Royal Roads joins thousands of institutions and individuals around the world dedicated to expanding the ways in which researchers and research outputs are evaluated.
“Joining the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment supports the recognition of research outputs that go beyond traditional academia,” says Veronica Thompson, vice-president and provost at Royal Roads University. “We are excited to advance our approach to research assessment in ways that will showcase the positive changes our researchers bring to our communities.
The Research Advisory Committee, Academic Council and Royal Roads University Faculty Association all contributed their dedicated work on this important endeavour that advances the university’s Strategic Research Plan goals to advance, enable and support quality research.
As a signatory of DORA, RRU will strive to advance practical, robust approaches to research assessment that offer a broader and more accurate representation of both our research, and our researchers. It will further create research relevant to diverse audiences throughout Royal Roads.
