President Steenkamp: Paying kindness forward on Giving Day

Giving Day is Nov. 26

Think of a time someone’s help made a mark on you — a mentor who guided you through a career change, a friend who showed up on moving day, or a loved one who dropped off a hot meal when life felt overwhelming.

It’s those acts of care — big or small — that remind us we’re not alone, give us the courage to keep going and connect us in the most meaningful ways.

The same is true for our students, whose lives are transformed through education made possible by the generosity of donors — people like you, who believe in helping others take their next step forward.

Nov. 26-27 is RRU Giving Day, a 36-hour campaign with the goal of raising $100,000 for student awards and support, and other strategic priorities.

In this video, Stephanie Clay and Sarah Foreman from our Advancement team show just how donors’ generosity is opening doors to possibility, supporting student awards and building new spaces for learning and connection.

We’re so fortunate at Royal Roads to be supported by an incredible community of donors, and together, I know we will continue to do this important work.

To help kick things off, I’m committing to match all donations received during the campaign up to $25,000. All gifts — of any size, to any fund — will support our Leading with Courage Campaign and will count toward our RRU Giving Day goal of $100,000.

So mark your calendars for Nov. 26 and 27. While the campaign officially runs for 36 hours, you can donate online anytime.

This Giving Day, I invite you to thank those who helped you get here by paying it forward. Your gift can open doors and change lives for the next generation of learners.
