While the conflicts raging around the world are a reminder to us of the peace we enjoy in Canada, we are not immune from these conflicts. They affect many members of our community and have the potential to divide us.
It is at times like these that we need to remind ourselves of the value of caring for and respecting others, especially those with whom we disagree. It takes courage to hear about, and try to understand, opposing views and the reasons behind them. And it takes creativity to seek common ground and to chart a way forward.
As we navigate the shoals of these conflicts, let us remember and be guided by these values and do what we can to advance peace.
So my wish this season is for universal peace and embracing our roles as peacemakers.
