New parking policy and rates effective May 1

Following a comprehensive review, new parking policy and parking and traffic management standards will take effect starting May 1, 2023.

New traffic management measures include speed limits and short-term parking options. New courtesy and complimentary parking procedures will also come into effect.

For the first time in over ten years, and recognizing the increase in costs of maintaining our parking services, RRU parking rates will increase on May 1, 2023. To foster the sustainable operation and maintenance of campus parking infrastructure and services as well as traffic management, the cost of an annual pass will be $240. It is anticipated there will be subsequent annual increases each April.

“Our approach to parking and transportation management aligns with the principles and objectives of the University’s Climate Action Plan,” says Philip Twyford, vice-president finance and operations.  End-of-trip facilities will be expanded to encourage cycling, walking or use of public transit.
