Prof. Ken Christie, head of Royal Roads’ Human Security and Peacebuilding program, spoke to host Ryan Price of CFAX 1070 Afternoons with Ryan Price about the ongoing war in Ukraine, which has seen 6.5 million people displaced and 3.2 million refugees who have already fled to neighbouring countries.

Here’s some of what Christie had to say:

“This war is not in the interests of anyone. I think the Chinese and President Biden, have been in talks …and the Chinese have said, Yeah, this this doesn't serve anyone's interests. So, I can't really see the Chinese actually supporting Putin and actually supplying him with weapons in this respect because they're a very pragmatic state, and I think that they will not intervene or go ahead with anything like this,” says Christie. “So again, a lot of people are opposed to this. Pressure is building on Putin more and more every day to try and end this war. And I think that will take its toll. I think Putin will see…and hopefully he'll back off and back down and we'll get a negotiation.”
