Prof. Ken Christie, head of Royal Roads’ Human Security and Peacebuilding program, spoke to All Points West with Robyn Burns guest host Kathryn Marlo about Canada’s involvement in Ukraine’s efforts, refugees fleeing from Ukraine to surrounding countries, and possible diplomatic solutions.

Here’s some of what he had to say:

“There's been enormous sanctions imposed on Russia, and I think sanctions are really starting to hit home now in terms of finances... there's a lot of economic sanctions against Russian executives. These people will be talking to Vladimir Putin and say, Look, what's going on? This is really affecting our livelihood. This is really affecting economics. So, the diplomacy, I think, will come through economics…I think there's a lot of diplomatic back channels going on to try and resolve this conflict. And as you've seen as big meetings with the Ukrainians and the Russians. And I think something will come of this, because I think that Putin realizes he's really made a mistake in doing this, you know, and that once these sanctions really kick in, he'll be in a very, very difficult position.”
