The Marriott Integrated Learning Grant has been established to assist Royal Roads students enrolled in a degree program who are completing Work Integrated Learning Placements focused on sustainable tourism. For the purposes of this award, "sustainable tourism' is defined as tourism that delivers positive economic, social and environmental outcomes with consideration to the needs of the visitor, industry, community and the environment.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in a Royal Roads' degree program including a Work Integrated Learning placement of at least 420 hours
  • Secured a paid or unpaid placement offer (within 6 months of application) from a business, non-profit or charitable organization which will engage the student in sustainable tourism as directed above.
  • Either the placement job description or the placement supervisor affirms in writing how the student will engage with sustainable tourism during their placement (allowable addition to the one-page award essay).
  • This award is also open to students who have secured their Work Integrated Learning opportunity within Marriott International or those who have been hired into a temporary or permanent position or are a recent hire within Marriott International's Voyage Leadership Program.

How to apply

  • this In-Course Award is open to students who are active in their program on the deadline date
  • pending the availability of funding, the competition aims to run in 2019 and 2020 from March 1st to May 1st (closes 11:59pm PST)
  • applications are submitted online through MyAdmin. A full list of awards in competition will be viewable upon login
  • address eligibility criteria for all awards in that competition in one one-page essay with your name in top margin
