The classroom and field experience greatly expanded my outlook.

The MA in Human Security and Peacebuilding program at Royal Roads University is truly unique in its delivery, scope and in the outlook that students will gain. The blend of classroom and online learning complemented my independent learning style, and it allowed me to pursue my master’s degree at a time when I could not commit to full-time studies.

I found it very beneficial to have professors from different backgrounds, with different experiences, for example in the government or with NGO’s. This greatly contributed to the unique perspective this program cultivates. I also found my professors to be very helpful, both during and after I completed the program.

This program is great for anyone who already has a career in this area and would like to deepen their knowledge, as well as for students who have limited experience but wants to gain exposure. Due to the nature of the program, it is best-suited for students who are working or have other obligations and prefer online and blended learning over a full-time learning experience.

The program allowed me to gain exposure to many areas of interest that fall under the paradigm of human security, and ultimately it fostered my interest in human migration, and molded my drive to serve others. This program also served to expand my outlook through experiences in the classroom and in the field, greatly influencing my own personal development, and challenging me to think in new ways. I look forward to wherever else this journey continues to take me.
