Accessibility

The George Porter Family Award has been established by Gaelen Porter through the George Porter Family Foundation. Gaelen is a Royal Roads University BCOM and MADEM alum who has established this award inspired by her own life-changing experience at RRU.

This award, which will be applied as a tuition credit, intends to support students with sensory or physical limitations.

Eligibility

Awarded on a competitive basis to students who:

  • Are enrolled in any degree program at Royal Roads University;
  • Describe how a sensory or physical limitation has created a barrier to their educational experience; and
  • Demonstrate resilience, initiative, or self-advocacy in responding to that barrier.

How to apply

  • This In-Course Award is open to students who are (or will be) active in their program on the deadline date.
  • Pending the availability of funding, the competition will run annually from March 1 to May 1 (closes 11:59pm Pacific Time).
  • Applications are submitted online through MyAdmin. A full list of awards in competition will be viewable upon login.
  • Address eligibility criteria for all awards in that competition in one one-page essay with your name in top margin.
