Exploring current hurdles and factors of success in Universal Design for Learning implementation on Canadian campuses within a COVID-19 and post-pandemic landscape

Dr. Frederic Fovet received an RRU SSHRC Institutional Grant to study Universal Design for Learning implementation efforts on Canadian campuses, and to identify factors that affect strategic buy-in.

The study will examine efforts towards Universal Design for Learning implementation (UDL) currently taking place on four Canadian campuses, in a move to identify variables which are hindering or facilitating large scale strategic buy-in. The goals are to (i) identify pertinent variables, (ii) examine the impact of these variables on whole campus implementation, and (iii) conceptualize factors which hence become crucial to other campuses in developing a strategic blue print for UDL implementation. Particular attention will be paid to the particularities of the COVID-19 crisis and post-pandemic landscape.
