Cellular diversity will be explored with emphasis on yeast, fungi, protists, bacteria and viruses. Interactions between microbes and their environment will be explored including nutrient cycling, methanogenesis, antibiotic activity and production as well as other mechanisms of pathogenicity. Introduces gene regulation as a means of conserving energy and responding to the environment. Prerequisites: BIOL101, CHEM102 (or corequisite)
