Chelsea Smith

Bachelor of Arts in Global Tourism Management

I apply what I learned in university to my work every day.

“I always planned to enrol in post-secondary education, but I found my true calling after travelling for a couple years. While taking a travel/tourism diploma program in Alberta I found out about the Royal Roads global tourism program. Not only was the program new and interesting, it also recognized my two years in college.

My time at Royal Roads University was unbelievable. I expected it to be challenging and exciting – it was that and more. My internship leading bike tours helped me land a job as a wine tour guide in France. After a year, I returned to become the operations manager at The Pedaler Cycling Tours. I’m now the operations manager for Gray Line Sightseeing Victoria.

Royal Roads prepared me for many different facets of the industry. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. And small classes in a beautiful setting helped to keep the usual school stresses at bay.

I love my job and I like going to work every day. Working in the industry I went to school for makes me certain I chose the right educational path. If you enjoy travel, are curious about other cultures and are passionate about people, the BA in Global Tourism Management program is for you.”
